Life insurance

Protect the people who depend on you.

Before we talkThink about who depends on your income, your major debts, existing coverage, and a comfortable monthly budget.

THE BIG PICTURE

Coverage for life’s different chapters.

Understand what each option does.
Then decide what deserves a closer look.

01

Life & family protection

Life & final expense

Life insuranceProtect the people who depend on you.

Explore term and permanent life insurance to help address income replacement, debts, a mortgage, or a legacy for loved ones.

What to considerThe right amount and type of coverage depend on your needs, budget, health, and how long protection is needed. Approval and premiums depend on underwriting.

Discuss life insurance
Final expensePlan for the costs loved ones may face.

Generally smaller whole life policies intended to help beneficiaries with funeral costs, remaining bills, and other end-of-life expenses.

What to considerBenefit amounts, health questions, premiums, and waiting periods vary. Some policies limit benefits for non-accidental death during an initial period.

Discuss final expense
02

Retirement & future income

Annuities, IUL & income

AnnuitiesExplore options for retirement savings and income.

Discuss fixed and fixed indexed annuities, including how their accumulation features or income options may fit your retirement goals.

What to considerAnnuities are insurance contracts with fees, surrender periods, and withdrawal restrictions that vary. Guarantees depend on the issuing insurer’s claims-paying ability. They are not FDIC insured. Tax penalties may apply to early withdrawals.

Discuss annuities
Indexed universal life (IUL)Understand permanent coverage and cash value.

IUL combines a life insurance death benefit with potential cash-value accumulation. Interest crediting may be linked in part to an index; the policy is not a direct investment in that index.

What to considerCredit limits, policy charges, and funding needs matter. Non-guaranteed values can change, and a 0% index credit does not prevent charges from reducing cash value. Insufficient funding or loans can cause a policy to lapse.

Discuss indexed universal life (iul)
Tax-free retirement income strategiesExplore the possibilities—and the conditions.

Learn whether a properly structured cash-value life insurance policy could support supplemental retirement income through potentially income-tax-free withdrawals and policy loans.

What to considerTax-free treatment is not guaranteed. Withdrawals are generally limited to basis for favorable treatment, and different rules apply to modified endowment contracts (MECs). Loans accrue interest and, along with withdrawals, reduce policy values and benefits. Lapse or surrender with a loan can create taxable income. Review with your tax professional.

Medicare choices

Medicare & supplements

MedicareMake sense of your coverage choices.

Get help understanding Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and the coverage questions to ask about your doctors, prescriptions, costs, and location.

What to considerBenefits, networks, formularies, costs, and availability vary by plan, service area, and year. Enrollment requires eligibility and an applicable enrollment period. This website does not enroll you in Medicare Parts A or B.

Discuss medicare
Medicare Supplement (Medigap)Explore help with Original Medicare’s cost sharing.

Medigap is private insurance that can help pay certain out-of-pocket costs with Original Medicare. It is different from Medicare Advantage.

What to considerMedigap does not work with Medicare Advantage and generally does not include prescription drug coverage. Enrollment timing, guaranteed-issue rights, underwriting, and state rules may affect your options.

Discuss medicare supplement (medigap)
04

Supplemental health protection

Hospital & critical illness

Hospital indemnityConsider support for covered hospital stays.

Supplemental insurance that pays specified cash benefits for covered hospital events under the policy’s terms.

What to considerThis is limited-benefit coverage, not a replacement for comprehensive medical insurance or Medicare Supplement insurance. Covered events, benefit limits, exclusions, and waiting periods vary.

Discuss hospital indemnity
Cancer insuranceExplore additional support for a covered diagnosis.

A supplemental policy may pay a lump sum or specified benefits for covered cancer diagnoses or treatments, as defined in the policy.

What to considerNot every cancer or treatment is covered. Prior diagnoses, underwriting, waiting periods, benefit limits, and exclusions may affect eligibility and benefits. This does not replace major medical coverage.

Discuss cancer insurance
Heart attack & strokePlan for the financial impact of a covered event.

Critical illness or specified-disease coverage may provide cash benefits for a qualifying heart attack or stroke, subject to the policy’s definitions.

What to considerA medical diagnosis does not automatically qualify for a benefit. Policy definitions, underwriting, exclusions, waiting periods, and benefit limits apply. This is supplemental coverage.

    Start with your life.

Your goals, the people you care about, your existing coverage, and your budget.

  2. 02

    Understand your options.

What a policy can do, what it costs, what it excludes, and what could change.

Explore suitable coverage, gather needed information, or take time to consider.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Questions are
always welcome.

Ask Susan
Do I need to know which policy I want?

No. Start with your concern—protecting family, planning for retirement, navigating Medicare, or preparing for health costs. Susan can help you understand which options may be worth discussing.

Can you give me a price right away?

Pricing depends on the coverage, carrier, location, and information required for the product. Life insurance often requires age, health, and underwriting details. A quote is an estimate, not an offer or a guarantee of coverage.

Is “tax-free retirement income” guaranteed?

No. Favorable tax treatment depends on policy structure, funding, distributions, and keeping the policy in force. Loans and withdrawals can reduce benefits and cause tax consequences. Life insurance is primarily for protection; discuss any strategy with your tax professional.

Are Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage the same?

No. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) helps pay certain costs with Original Medicare. Medicare Advantage is a different way to receive Medicare benefits through a private plan. You cannot use Medigap to pay Medicare Advantage cost sharing. Learn more at Medicare.gov ↗

What should I send in my first email?

Your general area of interest, state of residence, and a convenient time to talk are enough to begin. Please do not email Social Security numbers, Medicare numbers, account details, or medical records. Ask about an appropriate secure way to share required information.

YOUR NEXT CHAPTER STARTS WITH A CONVERSATION
